1. What this policy covers
DWTN UK LTD (company number 17495021) uses cookies and browser storage for the functions described here. A cookie is a small value stored by your browser. Local storage and application caches are other forms of device storage. The rules apply to these technologies as well as cookies. Contact hello@dwtn.uk with questions.
2. Essential authentication and automatic saved login
After a successful sign-in, the application automatically stores an authentication cookie so it can recognise your authorised session. You do not have to enter your password again on each page. Where a persistent session is available, closing and reopening the browser can leave you signed in until that session expires, you sign out or it is revoked.
This cookie is used for authentication and secure access to the service you request, not advertising. It stores a random session token, not your password. The essential sign-in function is separate from optional marketing or analytics. Calling a cookie “functional” does not make every use exempt from consent: an extended remembered-login period must remain necessary and proportionate to the requested service, or have an appropriate user choice. This policy does not authorise unrelated tracking.
| Storage | Purpose and typical duration | Your control |
|---|---|---|
dwtn_sessionFirst-party authentication cookie used by DWTN UK. | Recognises a signed-in account. Default policy: up to 12 hours for desktop users and administrators; up to 180 days for non-admin field users on supported phones or tablets. The applicable account/device policy can be shorter. It expires or can be revoked earlier. It is HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax, with Secure on HTTPS connections, and is scoped to the issuing host. | Sign out to revoke the current session. Clear the site’s cookies to remove the browser’s token. Where available, use “Sign out other devices” in account security settings, or ask your administrator to revoke access. |
Legacy sign-in cookie lanesforms_session (migration only) | For existing sessions created before 27 October 2026, this cookie may be accepted until 26 November 2026. After a valid request, DWTN replaces it with dwtn_session and expires the legacy cookie. New sign-ins do not use this name. | Sign out to end the session. The migration period ends on 26 November 2026. |
WTN draft and reference storage, including wtn_draft and wtn_current_ref | Preserves entries and the current reference while completing or returning to a WTN. Local storage does not have a built-in expiry; it can remain until replaced, removed by the relevant form action, or cleared from the browser. | Use the form’s clear/new-record function where available, or clear site data. Save any required records first. |
Saved WTN storage, including wtn_saved_notes_v1, where the feature is available | Stores records that a user saves on that device. Availability depends on the product and plan; this does not give Basic an online archive. Records remain until removed or browser storage is cleared. | Use available deletion controls or clear the site’s stored data. Device storage is not a guaranteed backup. |
| Application cache, where the installed web app uses it | Stores application resources to support the requested app experience. Browser management, app updates or clearing site data may remove it. | Manage the installed app and website storage in your browser/device settings. |
3. Consent and optional technologies
The public DWTN pages do not include an advertising or optional analytics cookie system. An essential authentication cookie is set when you sign in to the application, not simply because you read a public policy page. Storage necessary to maintain a requested session or preserve form entries can be used without an optional-cookie consent prompt where the legal exception applies.
If we introduce optional technologies requiring consent, they must remain disabled until you choose them, with a way to refuse and withdraw. No subscription, privacy-policy acknowledgement or continued browsing counts as consent to unrelated tracking. Any applicable exception must meet its own conditions; the word “essential” alone is not sufficient.
4. Shared devices and clearing storage
Do not rely on closing a tab to sign out. On shared devices, sign out explicitly and clear locally saved operational data when appropriate. Signing out does not necessarily erase drafts or saved documents on that device. A browser password manager is separate: it is controlled by your browser or device provider, not by DWTN’s authentication cookie.
Blocking essential cookies prevents authenticated functions from working. Clearing local data can permanently remove unsent drafts and device-only copies. Other websites linked from DWTN have their own storage policies.
